If you’re using Phone Link (formerly Link to Windows) to connect your Android phone to your Windows PC for calls and notifications but encounter dropped calls, let’s try fix it.
Phone Link requires specific permissions to access your phone’s calling functionality which might be disabled.
-
Granting Phone Call Permissions - Windows:

gpedit.msc
-
This launches the Local Group Policy Editor. Navigate to the following path in the left-hand pane:
Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > App Privacy
-
In the right-hand pane, locate the policy named “Let Windows apps make phone calls.” Double-click on it.
-

-
Granting Phone Call Permissions - Registry Editor:
-
Caution: Editing the registry can be risky, so proceed with care. Back up your registry before making any changes.
-
Use the same command prompt as in step 1.
-
Type the following command and press Enter:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\AppPrivacy
-
In the right-hand pane, right-click on an empty space and select “New” -> “DWORD (32-bit) Value.”
-
Name the new value “LetAppsAccessPhone.”

-
Click “OK” to save the changes.
-
Close the Registry Editor.
-
-
Connectivity Check:
- Ensure your phone and computer are connected to the same Wi-Fi network. Bluetooth connectivity alone might not be sufficient for stable calls.
-
Reboot and Test:
- Restart your computer.
- Open Phone Link and attempt a call to test the functionality.
Additional Tips:
- Make sure both your phone and computer are running the latest software updates.
- If the issue persists, try reinstalling the Phone Link app on your PC or restarting your phone.
By following these steps, you should be able to resolve the dropped call issue and enjoy uninterrupted communication through Phone Link. If the problem continues, it’s recommended to consult Microsoft’s official support resources for further troubleshooting.
